This series tells the story of two brothers of the ages eleven and ten who exist in a world parallel to ours where alchemy is the dominant science. The death of the mother leads to attempt to retreive her. They fail miserably, the younger loosing his entire the body, while the older loses two limbs. And so begins their dramatic journey to find a mystical stone which had the power to restore their bodies.

Taking place in a fictional city of Japan called "Niihama-shi" in the year 030, the story is of a special operations task-force called Public Security Section 9. In this era, America has failed to take over the world, but hold, an empire, and Japan is rebuilding after a war. Most people have cyberbrains and some have prosthetic body parts, even entire bodies. The series follows the exploits of Section 9's agents who range from ex-military to ex-police to even ex-mafia as they address each case and how it affects them on a personal level. They are an elite domestic anti-crime unit charged with the task of preemptive prevention of technology-related acts of terrorism and crime. Their duties include response to serious cyber crimes, investigation of unlawful acts of those in public office and of high profile murder cases. From time to time they also serve as protection to foreign VIPs.

Naruto grows to yearn to be a ninja, and the story follows Naruto's path to fulfil his dream being the number one ninja in his village.
